PLIAN is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about legal issues. They are a resource available to all who require information about the law, legal processes and the administration of justice.

Family and Child Care Connections (FCCC)is a community-based, non-profit early learning family resource centre and Family Child Care Agency located in St. John’s, NL. They are incorporated as Family and Child Care Connections-CUPW-FRC Inc. FCCC provides programs and services designed to support children from birth to 6 years of age, their families, the child care community and CUPW families.


Family and Child Care Connections is a project of the CUPW Child Care Fund and the National Child Benefit Re-Investment Fund with the government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Daybreak Child Care Centre is a non-profit community organization which offers programs to optimize the learning and development of children and families experiencing challenges.  These programs provide opportunities for positive parent – children interaction.


Four main programs offered are:

 3. Daybreak Community Program  

 4. Family Home Visitation Program

CCSNL is a non-profit family service agency that provides clients with confidential guidance and advice in matters of personal finance free of charge.  

Some of their services include:

SJSWC is a non-profit feminist organization working to empower, support and educate women, and promote gender equality.

They provide a number of programs and services, including:

Kirby House offers a safe and supportive environment for women who are experiencing abuse and their children.

They offer:

All staff are specially trained to work in the mental health field to help people deal with crisis situations. The services of the Centre are free and confidential.

Their mandate is to promote the mental health of all and to support the recovery of people experiencing mental illness through advocacy, education, research and service.

LDANL is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of education, employment, social development, legal rights and general well-being of people with learning disabilities. Some of the programs and services offered include:

The Child and Youth Advocate has the authority to represent the rights, interests and viewpoints of children and youth who are entitled to receive services and access programs provided by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters of St. John’s, Mount Pearl and district have been helping children of single-parent families for almost 25 years. Programs and services include:

  • Traditional One-to-One Match
  • In-School Mentoring
  • Kids ‘n’ Kops

  • Couples for Kids

The REAL Program matches children and youth up to the age of 18 with organized, registered recreational activities through the provision of program and financial assistance. This is a service for City of St. John’s residents only.

Kidsport looks to provide financial assistance for children and youth from Newfoundland and and Labrador to particvipate in a season of organized sports.  They will provide up to $300 per year towards registration fees or equipment costs.
